The Babel Budapest opened in 2016 in the historic building of a former Piarist school. It is run by Hubert Hlatky-Schlichter, who focuses on an unpretentious yet excellent cuisine.
His culinary exploration crosses Hungarian borders even though most ingredients come from the region. Two chefs – István Veres and Gábor Langer, who both have returned to Budapest after an international career – are responsible for the cuisine.
The calm interior design does not distract too much from their culinary art. In the contrary, the pleasant and elegant atmosphere stays in the background – just as the owner wants it.
