“We want to inspire creative thinking and need a new mindset, a new kind of commerce“ says Marietta Hoitink. She runs one of the most interesting concept stores in Amsterdam together with Gijs Stork. The store is called X BANK and the name says it all. It is located in a former bank. Today it is no longer about increasing wealth – in is all about limitless consumption.
The hybrid combines art, design, fashion and culture and offers ready-to-wear, Haute Couture, accessories, jewelry, bicycles (of course!), the works of young artists or established designers. All unites under one bracket: everything was designed in the Netherlands. Besides commerce, the store features exhibits such as opulent floral still lifes that look like they could be from old master–but the photographies fit today’s pulse.
Ask for the baroque wall cupboard for 250,000 €. When you throw in a Euro, it lets the coin dance across the porcelaine on display.
