Duc Ngo is not unknown in Berlin. His Asian creations can be enjoyed both in the West and the East of the city. Restaurants like the “Kuchi” or the “Ryōtei 893” are favorites.
Another restaurant has been blessed with his magnetic appeal since Spring 2017: the Golden Phoenix in the Hotel Provocateur. “I cook dishes here that you won’t find in any other of my places. I go back to my Chinese roots and combine that with subtle European influences,” explains the son of a Chinese father and Vietnamese mother.
The menu features ingeniously interpreted childhood dishes that live from the intensity of its spices. An example of his creative fusion: He surprisingly adds roasted pine nuts to the classic Chinese “XO-Sauce”. Gusts are seduced by his sexy culinary art in a 20s burlesque atmosphere.
Special Tips
Thanks to the open show kitchen, you can watch the chefs at work – for example preparing “Dragon Prawns”, gigantic shrimp with almond-, chili- and honey-mayonnaise.
