Contraste

Contradictive. Minimalistic. Surprising. Individual.
Café Restaurant
Milan

The contrast between what you expect and what you actually taste could not be greater. The waiter at the Contraste serves a dish called “Doughnut Bolognese”. It looks like a ring-shaped desert with artfully arranged mango and vanilla delights. Then you take a bite and discover that the alleged desert tastes like lasagne. Wow! While your brain is busy processing the confusion, Matias Perdomo and his kitchen team giggle thievishly. The goal of the star chef is to surprise people. Not only does he achieve this with his creations, but also surprises with the presentation of the menu. The first thing guests see when they open it is a mirror. This is how he shows his client who determines the menu: each guest. After a short conversation, the team customizes the respective meals.

Even the coral colored chandeliers designed by Alessandro Ciffo is full of contrasts. Their classic shape lets one suspect they are made of Murano glass. But they are actually made of silicone. Take a closer look at them…
